Samuel and Jean Manson were Janet O'Loughlin's great grandparents. Janet has researched the lives of Samuel and Jean and the culmination of that research is Mindful of my Origin.

The book begins in Scotland where Samuel and Jean were born and traces their lives in Scotland and New Zealand.

It also documents their 17 children and a number of their descendents.
